MAHOGANY CENTER TABLE
Having restored several similar period forms, we took advantage of modern techniques and materials to avoid the problems caused by expansion and contraction this form tends to develop. Rather than using shaped solid blocks, which tend to loosen and separate over time, we constructed an inner structure from solid oak, then applied a skin of bent laminate. The laminations are extremely rigid and resist expansion and contraction very well, thereby keeping all the joints between the facets tight, and lend additional strength to the core structure.
